A sales meeting

You're a buyer for a supermarket chain. Kenji, a sales manager at Sakura Foods, has come to your office to introduce his company's new products. It's your first meeting.

  • はじめまして、さくら食品しょくひん山本やまもともうします

    Hajimemashite, Sakura Shokuhin no Yamamoto to mōshimasu

    Nice to meet you, I'm Yamamoto from Sakura Foods.

    Said at the start when exchanging business cards; 申します is the humble form of 言います.

  • よろしくおねがいいたします

    Yoroshiku onegai itashimasu

    I look forward to working with you.

    Right after introducing yourself, and again when closing the meeting.

  • 本日ほんじつはお時間じかんをいただき、ありがとうございます

    Honjitsu wa ojikan o itadaki, arigatō gozaimasu

    Thank you for making time for me today.

    Said at the beginning of a client visit, after greetings.

  • 失礼しつれいいたします

    Shitsurei itashimasu

    Excuse me. / I'll take my leave.

    When entering the meeting room, sitting down, or leaving at the end.

  • 検討けんとうのほど、よろしくおねがいいたします

    Gokentō no hodo, yoroshiku onegai itashimasu

    Please give it your consideration.

    Said when handing over materials or wrapping up a sales pitch.
